I am a podcaster, and i’m curious to know about how filmmakers think we can be of service to them.

On our weekly podcast, Subject:CINEMA, we cover all kinds of topics, and movies both indie and mainstream. We have recently started a feature called “Uncut Gems”, spotlighting those films from filmmakers looking for a distributor for their products.

It has also been our pleasure to connect with filmmakers, actors, and producers both online and at film festivals. Our recent dealings with several have been extremely helpful and benefical to both sides, I believe.

What can I, as a podcaster, do to help filmmakers get the word out about their films? Personally, i’d like to see smaller films work with us, including us in distributions lists for press kits and screeners. We’re always happy to take a look at a new project and give our honest take on it. We frequenly do this on both the podcast and on our website, Popcorn N Roses.

It would also be nice if filmmakers could make themselves and their actors available for interviews - we’d love to have both filmmakers and actors on our podcast, but it’s proven difficult, as so many publicists and agents don’t take the podcasting medium seriously, even though over 1.1 million people listen to podcasts each week.

It’s always been my opinion that we can be of mutual benefit to each other, in many different ways, and i’m curious about what filmmakers out there have to say on the subject.
