Back by popular demand, Young Film Academy’s Summer filmmaking courses are the best introduction to filmmaking that children and young people can have.
“Young Film Academy provided my sons with an excellent week of education and fun. Their short film really surprised us all with its excellent artistic and technical merit - their imaginations have been sparked. Thank you and thank you!”
Richard Pierson (Editor, Quantum of Solace, The Bourne Supremacy)
In summer 2010 we are running two different filmmaking courses in London (see below for dates):
1. FOUR-DAY FILM SCHOOL (ages 10-13, 14-17)
Our hugely popular Four-Day Film School (10-13, 14-17) offers a hands-on experience of running a film set. There’s even a premiere and awards ceremony for the cast and crew at an exclusive West End screening room, where the top stars see their own movies! A comprehensive introduction to filmmaking, this course has proved to be the launch pad for many young talents. The course includes workshops on Film History, Scriptwriting, Acting, Producing, Camera Work, Sound Recording, Editing and even Fight Choreography!
July 26-29 Four-Day Film School (ages 10-13) £390*
August 2-5 Four-Day Film School (ages 14-17) £390*
The course will take place at St John’s Wood Church, London NW8 7NE
*This course includes a screening and awards ceremony at a West End venue, plus a DVD of the completed movie (with a Behind the Scenes special feature!)
Note: No previous experience is necessary.
2. MAKE A FILM IN A DAY (ages 8-13)
This course provides a taster of the filmmaking process. Participants on Make a Film in a Day courses are given an overview of the whole filmmaking process from EUREKA! though ACTION! to IT’S A WRAP! Working in teams, these young filmmakers work against the clock to plan, storyboard, shoot, act and edit their film (complete with sound effects and music)...and by the end of the day their first movie is complete!
