That looks pretty impressive for that budget.  What did you shoot it on?  How much time was spent in post.

Hi Knightly,

I shot it using the one 3CCD Pansonic GS400 Cam. Post production was a nightmare to be honest - had to re-shoot the majority of the film again due to a guy withdrawing all his props over an argument! The entire project took 3 years to make. Thanks for the reply!

No problem, I’m going through about the same process with a romantic thriller.  Budget was for tapes ~$250...which is right around your budget.  We spent no money on this as we were using it as a learning tool...I’m 4 years in and still editing.

I know how you feel! - The majority of my budget went on petrol as mini DV tapes over here are dirt cheap. I got professional actors for nothing from an open audition that I organized. They were happy to put that they had moved from television to film on their CV! I basically did everything behind the camera myself.  If you get into problems, I may be able to advise! Interested to see your finished project when the day finally comes and please stay in touch by subscribing to my films via youtube. Thanks again Knightly.

Fellow Filmmakers may be interested in the two recent clips I have uploaded to youtube.com – I would personally watch the clip without the commentary track first.

Roadkill:

Roadkill (with DVD commentary track)

I’m not a fan of horror films, but your trailer was impressive. It looks to be better than many films I’ve seen at festivals that were made for way more money. Your actors did a great job as well.

I am often amazed to find how much people spend on indie films… you should be proud.

Good job Peter!

Awesome job!  Looks like a winner!  Pounds are those things that are worth way more than our American dollars, right? ;0

Hey Pete, kudos to you, dude!  You’re my hero!
Tell us what’s happening with the film…

This makes me think of what I heard from a hollywood contact yesterday (successful screenwriter with extensive credits), that the strike is over in the next couple of days...they’re getting a solid deal, which is great news…

And here’s what I want everyone to know - this is the cool part: When a strike is over, the industry goes through a period of buy buy buy script-buying frenzy, to make up for lost momentum. So, get your stuff out there in a big way.

p.s. to Pete and all the other filmmakers you know: It’s also a great time to get your films out there, because the industry’s going to have a gap coming up they need to fill!

Hey, thanks the above posts for your interest and kind words,

Yep! Pounds are double to the dollar and unfortunately I live over here!

Good point on the gap in the market. Shame Driftwood isn’t a clever screenplay. It’s just something I scribbled down to prove we could make a slasher flick that would make the audience jump for next to no money at all.
I’m not a writer and take my hat off to anybody who write the things that bring my favourite films to the screen.
The best writing to date is probably the link below to my latest 3 minute short
