Call for Film Submissions

Siren Nation is now accepting film submissions for our 2nd annual Women’s Arts and Music Fest to be held November 3-9th, 2008. The submission guidelines are as follows:

Women-directed films of any length or genre submitted on DVD.
DVDs should be labeled with contact information.
Submitted projects must be completed.
There is a $5.00 entry fee per submission.
If there is more than one film on the DVD, please specify which film you would like to submit.

Machinima is basically an art of film making by using real time, interactive virtual worlds and virtual actors as one of the primary component. This art is now massively being recognized around the world and more tools are now being developed to support this new age style. Hollywood is also taking this step as a means of pre-visualizing their film with complex scenes.

The Artist Society, an independent animated film org, takes a closer look at the machinima technique and made this action short film: “Anhela La Venganza”.

‘Anhela La Venganza’ is actually ‘Desire for Vengeance’ in Spanish. And yes, this is a tale of vengeance, sought by a woman whose father was assassinated years ago. Her father died for being a nobleman who sided with the rebels for the freedom of Granado Espada from monarchy.

Directed by Michael Rivero and written by Jac Ting Lim, both are game developers by profession.

This machinima film were done in the virtual world of Granado Espada, which won the 2006 Korean awards for Best Graphics and Game of the Year. Developed by IMC Games and published by IAH Games.

LEAD ROLES CAST FOR GO DOG! PICTURES’
DAN’S THE MAN

Austin-based film production company Go Dog! Pictures has announced casting for the two lead roles in its upcoming comedy feature, DAN’S THE MAN.

Chris Osborn will play campaign manager Dan Tipton, and Dave Buckman will take on the role of state representative candidate, Carl Krieger.

“During auditions we saw an impressive number of very funny actors,” said the film’s director Susan Busa. “That made our decision difficult but we cast the right actors for the roles. I’m excited to be working with these guys.”

A veteran of film, stage and television, Osborn’s extensive acting experience includes featured performances on NBC’s FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS and JD Productions’ GARDEN VARIETY. He has appeared in numerous films including REDEMPTION, SADIE, FLOWER, FREE MONEY and QUICK FIX.

Buckman has directed, taught and performed at some of the world’s leading improvisational comedy institutions. After several years studying improv in Chicago with Mick Napier and Del Close, Dave served as Artistic Director of Boom Chicago in Amsterdam for two-and-a half years, culminating in only the second stage-swap with The Second City’s Main Stage in its 47-year history.

DAN’S THE MAN is the story of two recent college graduates who don’t want to get jobs so decide to run for public office.

In the last days htp://mellart.blogspot.com has launched a free contest to to promote experimental and underground culture in its audiovisuals languages: animation, art, comics, film, video. We’ve yet received some artworks, only a couple are noteworthy. If you’re an artist, feel free to submit your artistic creations: artworks, short comics or panel strips, photos, experimental videos. We’ll select the best!
