2010 Big Break Screenwriter Competition

Big Break, a Final Draft, Inc. contest, is an annual, global screenwriting contest designed to support emerging creative talent. Big Break rewards screenwriters with cash, prizes and A-list executive meetings. 5th Annual San Diego Women’s Film Festival

The San Diego Women's Film Festival is Southern California's most notable and longest running women film festival. Each year the Festival showcases approximately 100 films from around the world, offering a diverse selection of features, shorts and documentaries that compete for both Judge and Audience awards. The independent films highlight positive messages about relevant social issues, including ethnicity, class, culture, race and gender. Ann Arbor Film Festival

The Ann Arbor Film Festival is the longest-running showcase of independent, experimental and artistically-inspired films in North America. Our 501(c)(3) non-profit, Archaeological Legacy Institute, produces TAC Festival annually as part of its mission to share the human cultural legacy with people everywhere. The event has since grown in size and significance. For 2008 we received 81 film entries from 17 countries, and will show the 18 top-rated films on the big screen. Ashland Independent Film Festival

The 7th annual festival, April 3-7, 2008 will take place in the town that The Washington Post says "is like a dream you‚ll never want to leave." Henry Jaglom declares Ashland "the dream festival of all time!" 90% of seats filled with engaged, arts-oriented audiences. The festival takes place on the five screens of the art-deco Varsity Theatre in historic downtown Ashland. Held in NYC, the Asian American International Film Festival is the nation's oldest and longest running festival dedicated to encouraging the development of Asian American media arts.

Asian Animation Film Festival

Atlanta International Documentary Film Festival

The Atlanta International Documentary Film Festival (DocuFest Atlanta) brings you the best in independent documentary film and video from across the globe. DocuFest Atlanta showcases meaningful life stories which educate and entertain audiences of every demographic.

Austin Film Festival

The Austin Film Festival is held every October and screens more than 100 feature, short and student short films (both narrative and documentary), including regional and world premieres of critically acclaimed films. AFF draws a large industry crowd of screenwriters, distributors and moviemakers each year to Austin, Texas. In the past seven years, all of the Festival's Feature Film Audience Award winners have received distribution as a result of their festival screenings. The Austin Film Festival also hosts a screenwriters conference the first four days of the festival, as well as a screenwriting competition.

The Austin Gay and Lesbian International Film Festival (aGLIFF) is the oldest and largest gay and lesbian film festival in the Southwest. aGLIFF cultivates high-quality gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender filmmaking that enlightens, educates and entertains all our community by exhibiting and supporting the best in recent GLBT national, international and regional films and videos.

Ava Gardner Film Festival

The fourth annual Ava Gardner Film Festival scheduled for September 24-27, 2008 will be a celebration of independent films from around the world and will showcase several of Ava’s classic films. The Ava Gardner Museum has set the last week in September every year for this popular new festival that draws thousands of visitors to Smithfield. From Wednesday through Saturday, the festival will feature independent films, documentaries, narratives, short films and features. In addition to the films, there will be special museum exhibits and the JOCO Artists Guild sponsored Arts and Fine Crafts Marketplace near the Ava Gardner Museum located in historic Downtown Smithfield. “The Night of the Iguana”, “On the Beach” and “Earthquake” will be the three classic movies showcased at this year’s festival. Films will be shown in five downtown Smithfield venues including the Historic Howell Theatre on Third Street – the same theatre that a young Ava Gardner watched her first movies starring legends such as Clark Gable and Jean Harlow. Bahamas International Film Festival

The Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF) is a nonprofit organization committed to providing the local community and International festival goers with a diverse presentation of films from The Bahamas and around the world. In addition to showcasing films that might not otherwise be released theatrically, BIFF provides unique cultural experiences, educational programs, and forums for exploring the past, present & future of cinema. Barbados International Film Festival

The Barbados International Film Festival (BIFF) will be hosting its inaugural festival from December 5th-9th 2007. It will be an annual celebration of film, both in and out of competition, showcasing the very best of filmmakers and storytellers of the world for the audience of the world. One of the festival's goals therefore, is to set and maintain the lead as a major showcase for the exhibition of Latin America, Caribbean and Worldwide independent cinema. By providing an international film market for distribution opportunities for emerging film makers, producers, key industry professionals, distributors, buyers and trade groups.

Bare Bones Film & Music Festival

Bare Bones is the name given to feature films produced for less than a million dollars. DUring the past 10 years Bare Bones has become the breeding ground for newcomers and veterans alike as colloborations are made along with new friends and a film family that supports and motivates it's alumni after the festival ends. Festival Founder/Director ShIronbutterfly says "Ford Austin of Angry Baby Monkey Films and Marc Wasserman of Respa Productions are just one example of many collorborations that have happened during the festival." In 2009 The Beaufort Regional Film Commission and the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce will present the Third Annual Beaufort Film Festival as part of the Beaufort Kaleidoscope: Film, Food and Fine Art. Four days of international and local short films, feature films, animation, filmmakers surprises, educational forums, guest speakers, parties, and the quiet charm of historic Beaufort will all be on display. Many of the directors will be here at the festival to talk about and answer your questions about their films, and this is possibly your only opportunity to get close to them and see their early works before they get "discovered". Beloit International Film Festival

The Beloit International Film Festival, or 'BIFF,' is getting ready for its third and grandest season yet. What has been called "the next big thing" and "a must-attend event," by Moviemaker Magazine certainly lived up to its notices in its second year, setting some exciting standards to exceed in 2008. The four-day festival is one of four festivals in the country that the New York Times this year suggested as alternatives to Sundance. Boston Jewish Film Festival

BJFF screens films and videos that highlight the Jewish experience; explore Jewish culture/heritage/history; or are of particular interest to the Jewish community. BJFF presents narrative, documentary, animated and experimental works. We do not screen works in progress. Films submitted must be available for presentation in 35mm, Beta SP or DVD. Works can be of any length.

Boston Motion Picture Awards

The Boston Motion Picture Awards were founded in 2004 by Boston-area filmmakers Aaron and Seth Howland of 7 Fluid Oz. Productions LLP. The BMPAs were established with the purpose of providing independent filmmakers with money, exposure, distribution, and other important resources. This year's competitions include the International Short-Film Competition and the International Spoof-Writing Competition. This year's entrants will compete for 1,000s of dollars in cash and prizes, including a distribution contract and the opportunity to have a script produced.
