Los Angeles United Film Festival
http://launitedfilmfest.comThe Los Angeles United Film Festival (LAUFF), bringing art and creativity together to create a united film community, will be held April 18-20, with a kick-off party April 17 at Gibson Musical Instruments Showroom. The festival’s focus is to bring together talented filmmakers from diverse backgrounds, thus creating a united showcase of creative energy and talent. This is a film festival for everyone, a place where art and community converge. There will be a Q&A with the filmmakers and cast after each film. All films will be preceded by a block of short films. Admission Price: Kick-off event $5, screenings $10

James Schamus Honored with Trailblazer Award at Woodstock
James Schamus, the man behind Focus Features (think The Constant Gardener, Atonement), was chosen to receive the 2008 Trailblazer Award from the Woodstock Film Festival. Prior to working at Focus he was co-president of independent production company Good Machine for 11 years and won numerous awards for his own work, including the award for Best Screenplay at the 1997 Cannes International Film Festival for The Ice Storm.
