The Angelus Student Film Festival honors future filmmakers for exploring and creating works that respect the dignity of the human person. Angelus Award winning films reflect values such as redemption, spirituality, dignity, tolerance, equality, diversity, hope and triumph of the human spirit. Angelus Award alumni include Sundance winners Patricia Cardoso (Real Women Have Curves) and Tony Bui (Three Seasons and Green Dragon). Others include directors Greg Marcks (11:14 starring Hilary Swank), Jessica Sharzer (Speak on Showtime) and Sabrina Dhawan (screenwriter Monsoon Wedding). Doorpost Awards $300,000 to “Undiscovered” Moviemakers

The Doorpost Film Project, a “contest aimed at discovering and developing moviemakers capable of producing films that inspire and influence rather than simply entertain,” just finished round one and is now left with 15 finalists who are described by Nathan Elliott, the Project's director, as “a globally, ethnically and racially diverse group of filmmakers that have one important thing in common: They're enormously talented."
