Palm Springs International ShortFest Moves to June

The Palm Springs International ShortFest has moved from the dog days of August heat to the refreshing air of June. The most acclaimed short film showcase will now kick off at the Camelot Theater on June 23rd and will end on the 29th.
“The early summer dates should show off Palm Springs to its best advantage,” says festival director Darryl Macdonald. “And with the hundreds of filmmakers headed to the event from all over the world each year, the new dates will ensure them a cooler climate in the desert to go along with the already hot film marketplace.”
Yet not even a cooler month could remove the heat from the festival. Last year’s Audience Favorite Live Action Short winner, Spielzeugland (Toyland), won the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film. This sets the standard for excellence, which makes ShortFest even more competitive but worth the challenge.
With deadline for submission ending April 24th, moviemakers still have a chance to enter their short into the festival that could win them one of 26 awards or land them at next year’s Oscars.

You can apply by going to the link in the first paragraph. You’ll see a “submissions” button on the festival’s homepage. Naturally, submissions are closed for this year’s festival.
