Video Views Pick: Confessions of a Shopaholic

directed by P.J. Hogan
PG; 112 minutes

She’s bright, she’s pretty, and she’s in love… with stores. She just can’t help it. Every time she passes the window of an upscale shop, her heart skips a beat and her credit card takes a beating. Journalist Rebecca Bloomfield (Isla Fisher) rents a room from her best friend Suze (Krysten Ritter) while looking for her dream job at a top fashion magazine run by Alette Naylor (Kristin Scott Thomas). Finding that job unavailable, she’s serendipitously routed to the office of handsome entrepreneur Luke Brandon (Hugh Dancy), the editor of a struggling finance magazine. And there she gets a job writing a successful column on responsible shopping, while she herself has no way to pay off her $16,000 credit card bill or to escape from a tenacious debt collector. It’s enjoyable with fun, supporting performances by Joan Cusack, John Goodman, John Lithgow, Wendie Malick, Julie Hagerty and Fred Armisen. Even Lynn Redgrave drops in… literally.

DVD Extras: Bloopers; Deleted Scenes; Music Video.

Aside from this movie, there are a lot of new movie releases to look up to this year. one of this is the Alice in Wonderland directed by the famous Tim Burton. The big news in Hollywood circles is Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. The Tim Burton Alice in Wonderland should prove to be quite the picture, as the director brings a distinct visual atmosphere to his films, and so far there is a lot of talk about Johnny Depp, and his role in the film as the Mad Hatter, and the 17-year old Mia Wasikowska as Alice. Many will line up some money loans to go. Lewis Carroll wrote the story as a children’s fable. The tale is a classic, and there will be a lot of cash advances paid to see the Tim Burton Alice in Wonderland.
