Take Home TCM Greatest Classic Films Collection

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group, the studio with the world’s largest film library, is partnering with Turner Classic Movies, the authority in classic film, to introduce the TCM Greatest Classic Films Collection. Beginning in early 2009, the partners will release a collection of 60 acclaimed movies in 15 themed groups.

The launch of TCM Greatest Classic Films Collection, the largest-ever partnership between Warner Home Video and TCM, provides both long-time movie buffs and new generations of film fanatics a convenient way to build a personal library of classic films. For the collection, Warner Home Video has selected some of the greatest American movies from the past 85 years. The movies are packaged in four-title sets and will be released in four separate waves.

The first installments in the collection arrive February 3, 2009, with three genres timed to coincide with Valentine’s Day and Oscar season, including Romantic Dramas (Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, A Streetcar Named Desire, Rebel Without a Cause, East of Eden), Romantic Comedies (The Philadelphia Story, Bringing Up Baby, Adam’s Rib, Woman of the Year) and Best Picture Winners (Casablanca, An American in Paris, Gigi, Mrs. Miniver). The next installments, to be released in May, will feature musicals, westerns and war movies.

The 12 films in the three debut sets have been honored with 32 Oscar wins and feature such world-renowned stars as James Stewart, Humphrey Bogart, James Dean, Paul Newman, Marlon Brando and Katharine Hepburn.
