Titans Conquer the Box Office

Clash of the Titans took the top spot at the box office this weekend; the movie, a remake of the 1981 camp classic of the same name, featured blaring rock music in the trailer and stars Avatar‘s Sam Worthington as Perseus. It earned $61.4 million, so it’s probably a good bet to say that director Louis Leterrier’s attempts to update the property paid off.

Earning less than half that ($30.1 million) was second place finisher and new release Why Did I Get Married Too?, written and directed by Tyler Perry. Coming in third was last week’s number one finisher, How to Train Your Dragon ($29.2 million, total gross $92.3 million). Number four went to The Last Song, starring Miley Cyrus, which earned $16.2 million in its first weekend. Rounding out the top five was Alice in Wonderland, which earned $8.2 million over the weekend, bringing its total to $309.7 million.

Other new releases were The Greatest ($37,000), Breaking Upwards ($16,300), The Warlords ($10,000) and The Thorn in the Heart ($6.135). Next weekend sees the release of the comedy Date Night, as well as The Runaways‘ expansion to wide release. Out in limited release are After.Life, Letters to God, La MIssion, It Came From Kuchar and Women WIthout Men. Can any of those top Liam Neeson’s Zeus saying “Release the Kraken!”? We’ll have to wait and see.

I haven’t seen the movie but from what I’ve heard the movie is really good. The Clash of the Titans good reviews are everywhere in the internet especially in Facebook. Indeed, we surely have great movie releases this year and no doubt there would a lot more to be produce this year. Perhaps, I’ll watch this weekend.

It’s a 3-D movie with a 1-D script.

It’s boring, there’s no intrigue, and the action sequences were just business.

The people who think this film is good must be on kraken.
