R; 98 minutes

Thirty-something unmarried couple Burt Farlander (John Krasinski) and Verona DeTessant (Maya Rudolph) are expecting a baby. Living in Denver, close to his parents (Catherine O’Hara and Jeff Daniels), they are dismayed to hear that his folks are moving to Belgium just before the birth of their grandchild. Unsure as to where they want to live, they begin a journey across the continent in order to find the right place to raise their daughter. First they fly to Phoenix to visit Verona’s old boss, the now very drunk Lily (Allison Janney) and her pessimist husband (Jim Gaffigan). Then they go to Tucson to visit her sister (Carmen Ejogo). Burt has a job interview in Madison, where his childhood friend (Maggie Gyllenhaal) has become a weird hippie mom. In Montreal, they find what might be the right place, but after a trip to Miami, were Burt’s brother has suddenly become a single dad, they finally realize where they belong. A fresh romance.

DVD Extras: Commentaries includes director Sam Mendes; Featurettes ("The Making of Away We Go,” “Green Filmmaking").
