Find the Audio to Your Video at the Vimeo Music Store

Over the past few years, Vimeo has become the Website of choice for moviemakers wishing to showcase their work online and connect with other artists. In addition to acting as a screening platform, the site has a history of supporting moviemakers’ professional growth through the Vimeo Video School and promoting collaboration through community projects. The latest example of Vimeo’s quest to help moviemakers create better films is the recently-launched Vimeo Music Store, where moviemakers can find the perfect tracks to accompany their visual masterpieces.

“Finding music to use in your videos can be extremely hard,” says Blake Whitman, Vimeo’s vice president of creative development. “The Music Store allows users to easily discover, download and/or purchase tracks without ever needing to leave Vimeo.”

The Vimeo Music Store has in its library over 45,000 tracks covering a variety of different genres (including nerdcore, rockabilly and Balkan along with more frequently-heard genres like rock, classical and techno). Moviemakers have the option of downloading many songs for free under a Creative Commons license, though licenses are also available for purchase. A big provider of tracks to the Vimeo Music Store is the music licensing agency Audiosocket, which specializes in promoting up-and-coming bands, composers and record labels from around the world.

To find out more about the Vimeo Music Store, and to browse through their extensive catalog, head over to vimeo.com/musicstore.

This is a very nice little advertisement for VIMEO, however the Problem with VIMEO is they are completely belligerent towards copyright infringement notices.

I directed a music video, I made a copyright infringement notice as I did not was someone publishing my work as there is a dispute, a counter notice was made to VIMEO with false information, i proved this to VIMEO, they ignored this and quoted the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. However as they were aware this was an infringement of my work and as I am the copyright holder and established this and the counter notice was false, they still allowed the work to be infringed.

Under Section 512(c) there are two general requirements that OSPs must not be aware of the presence of infringing material or know any facts or circumstances that would make infringing material apparent, and 3) upon receiving notice from copyright owners or their agents, act expeditiously to remove the purported infringing material.
To qualify for the § 512(c) safe harbor, the OSP must not have actual knowledge that it is hosting infringing material or be aware of facts or circumstances from which infringing activity is apparent. VIMEO does not qualify as it was aware that the counter notice was untrue and that the material was infringing my copyright
As VIMEO knew that the work is infringed upon and that the counter notice has false information which I proved to them they cannot simply hide behind the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and safe harbour really does not apply.

VIMEO seems to be run by a bunch of kids with no idea of the law and I would not ever use VIMEO again or recommend it to anyone as they refuse to respect copyrighted work

Another great idea. You can easily find what you seek by using tags and there are also many tracks released under Creative commons.
