Writers Guild of America Announces 2008 Award Nominees

The Golden Globes ceremony might be cancelled, but it’s still full steam ahead for the 2008 Awards Season. In the past week alone the Directors Guild and the American Society of Cinematographers announced their feature film nominees, while the Critics bestowed awards on theirs. And today, despite the eight-week turmoil, the Writers Guild of America announced their picks for the best screenplays of 2007.
The WGA nominees for original screenplay include Juno (Diablo Cody), Knocked Up (Judd Apatow), Lars and the Real Girl (Nancy Oliver), Michael Clayton (Tony Gilroy) and The Savages (Tamara Jenkins). For best adapted screenplay, the nominees are: The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (Ronald Harwood), Into the Wild (Sean Penn), No Country for Old Men (Ethan Coen & Joel Coen), There Will Be Blood (Paul Thomas Anderson) and Zodiac (James Vanderbilt).
In the documentary screenplay category, The Camden 28 (Anthony Giacchino), Nanking (Bill Guttentag, Dan Sturman, Elisabeth Bentley), No End in Sight (Charles Ferguson), The Rape Of Europa (Richard Berge, Nicole Newman, Bonni Cohen), SiCKO (Michael Moore) and Taxi to the Dark Side (Alex Gibney), are all awaiting to see who will take home the trophy.

I can’t remember which, either “No Country for Old Men” or “There Will be Blood”, I tried to watch on the flight to UK and after about 40 minutes I fell asleep. I honestly don’t know what the action in that movie was. The movie was about this guy going around killing people.
Anyways, bad picks for this year’s winners.
