Video Views Pick: The Dark Knight

DVD Release: December 9
Action/Adventure, 152 min.
Crime is on the rise, keeping Lt. Gordon (Gary Oldman) and the Gotham City police force busier than ever. And in spite of all the help Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) gets from his trusty butler Alfred (Michael Caine) and his company’s master technician Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman), even he as Batman can’t hold it all down. Amateur vigilantes try to help, but the drug dealers still run rampant. In steps the crazy bank-robbing, clown-like Joker (Heath Ledger) whose attacks are paralyzing the city as high government officials are being knocked off. But there seems to be hope. The new District Attorney in town, Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), has the confidence of the population… as opposed to Batman, whose reputation is slipping badly. Not only that, but Dent is dating Bruce’s ex-girlfriend Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal), and the Joker is threatening to blow up Gotham unless Batman reveals himself. Ledger’s performance is fantastic.
DVD Extras: Two-disc includes “Batman Tech: The Incredible Gadgets and Tools.”
Partial Credits: Christian Bale (I’m Not There, 3:10 to Yuma, Rescue Dawn, The Prestige, Batman Begins, American Psycho, Newsies). Heath Ledger (I’m Not There, Brokeback Mountain, Lords of Dogtown, Monster’s Ball, A Knight’s Tale, The Patriot, 10 Things I Hate About You). Aaron Eckhart (No Reservations, The Black Dahlia, Thank You for Smoking, Erin Brockovich).

Black Knight was cool but Iron Man was even better in my humble opinion. Heath Ledger was a major talent, too bad his time was so early.

Very interesting post, thanks. The Dark Night is definitively a movie to remember. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be getting the nominations it deserves despite its huge success in the box office. It seems there is a disconnection between the critics and the public.

How much could you sell a Dark Knight movie banner for? I have a dark knight movie banner from a theater i used to work at. It has Heath Ledger as the joker on it. It is about 8 feet tall and 5 feet wide. How much could i sell it for?thanks...!!!

I own the DVD but haven’t checked out the extras yet. Can’t wait to do that! Heath Ledger was amazing as the Joker and I’d love to see more about his performance.

This movie was a hit, but what I noticed was, “Joker” was a better actor than “Batman”.

Great movie! I think that Heath Ledger had the best actor role in this film.

I really hope they don’t attempt a sequel with Joker in it. Heath did it so well, he ruined it for anybody else.

We’ve been subjected to enormous amounts of hype and marketing for the Dark Knight. We’ve seen Joker scavenger hunts and one of the largest viral campaigns in advertising history and it culminates with the actual release of the movie.
Everything that’s been said is pretty much spot on. This is the first time I can remember where a summer blockbuster film far surpasses the hype.
For as much action as there is in this movie, it’s the acting that makes it a great piece of work. Between all the punches, explosions and stunt-work is some great dialog work. All the actors have their moments.

An imperishable, spectacular and chaotically-brilliant movie. The Dark Knight possesses the essence that should always exist in the handover from comics to the big screen. Sequence after sequence, this is the absolute glory. A great movie that does not give a single frame to breathe. An ode to chaos and anarchy, while shares are confronted inevitably lead to a path dirty, black and hostile. A real Gotham City, dominated by fear.

This movie not only looked difficult to make, but the action was even hard to keep up with! It is a good (not great) movie when watched in the theater. This should still be a big hit as an online movie as well! PS great writing within your forum, keep it up.

Powerful acting, powerful action, huge IMAX sequences give this Batman a great big commanding feel. However, story is held hostage to action, especially in the second half.

For the part about Morgan Freeman resigning, he doesn’t resign. He says as long as it’s part of Wayne Enterprises he won’t work there. When he types in his name at the end it destroys the machine and Fox walks away with a smile knowing that Batman was really only using it to catch the Joker.

Yes I agree about Heath Ledger he will be missed.
There is something so unique in the sex appeal of Maggie Gyllenhall does anyone agree. Can’t put my finger on it but she is just so sexy to me.- Comment by Carla | Donate Car to Charity on 12/28/11 at 8:02 am
