Robert Benton’s Feast of Love

The acclaimed writer/director behind Kramer Vs. Kramer and Twilight is back. Robert Benton’s newest movie, Feast of Love, follows territory familiar to Benton’s fans and is described as a “meditation on love and its various incarnations.”

Benton, having won three Oscars and an incredible amount of recognition at other award ceremonies worldwide, has enjoyed a long and successful career since first gaining recognition with 1967’s Bonnie and Clyde. While he is able to change gears (such as writing last year’s underrated comedy The Ice Harvest), he is most at home with projects involving themes related to the “human condition,” such as love, loss, and the spectra in between. His most famous work, 1979’s Kramer Vs. Kramer, was a touching story of a family torn by divorce and a father’s fight for his son. The movie was a unique success in that it took the 1980 Oscars by storm, winning all of the big awards: Best Actor (Dustin Hoffman) Best Actress (Meryl Streep), Best Director, Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay.

Feast of Love hits theaters September 27th. Benson’s next project, 2008’s Appointment in Samarra, is currently in production.

Sorry but Meryl Streep was awarded the Best Actress in a Supporting Role Oscar (NOT best actress) for Kramer Vs. Kramer. Her Best Actress (in a Leading Role) came later with her role in Sophie’s Choice.
