PRISM award nominations announced

Everyone knows that art has the power to entertain, but sometimes it also has the ability to educate simply by showing real life. Since 1997 the PRISM awards have honored entertainment that provides realistic depictions of substance abuse, addiction and mental health issues. On February 27, 2008 the Entertainment Industries Council, the organization which hosts the awards, announced the 2008 nominees.
The PRISM awards divide feature films into two categories. This year, Georgia Rule and Gone Baby Gone garnered nods for their Wide Releases while Control, In the Valley of Elah, Man in the Chair, Self-Medicated and You Kill Me received nods for their Limited runs. The PRISM awards also recognize individual performances, with the 2008 nominees including Casey Affleck (Gone Baby Gone), Ryan Gosling (Lars and the Real Girl), Felicity Huffman (Georgia Rule), Ben Kingsley (You Kill Me) and Tom Wilkinson (Michael Clayton).
The Entertainment Industries Council, in partnership with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration and FX networks, began the PRISM awards to honor not only film, but primetime and daytime television, music and comic books, among other mediums. The 12th annual PRISM awards will take place on April 24, 2008 at the Beverly Hills Hotel. The ceremony will also be taped for national telecast on FX.

Prism award has been acting as an eye opener to people who are oblivious to the harmful effects of addiction. Many people develop addiction problem; their health get affected. Only the drug rehab treatment centers could provide the treatment for this problem.

There should be more movies made which highlights this problem. Drug addiction is a serious issue. Often celebrities also get addiction problems and as a result they have to check into rehabs to get well. If you want a healthy life stay away from addiction.

Drug addiction could take severe form. Many of us do not know that this addiction could affect your mental health too. If you drown yourself too much in addiction then your chance of recovery could also become impossible. So it is wise ti become aware of your problem and take admission into a reputed drug treatment center.

I remember watching a documentary on drug addiction problem on youth. It was so poignant. Youth simply fall for drugs because of lack of awareness. They need to know what are the harmful effects of drugs? Getting specialized treatment at a rehab like drug detox Florida is necessary ; but it is even more necessary to stay away from drugs.

Films like these portray reality. That is the reason they touch our hearts. Despite many steps being taken, drug addiction is on the rise. So are drug rehab centers. It is true that drug rehabilitation program could cure an addict. But wiping out this problem completely is better.
