IFC Center Unveils New Print of Herzog’s Nosferatu the Vampyre

In the mood for some old-school style scares this Halloween? Then be sure to head over to New York City’s IFC Center in for a one-week run, of Werner Herzog’s masterfully creepy 1979 remake Nosferatu: The Vampyre, presented in a gorgeous new 35mm print from Wednesday October 29th to November 4th. Based on F.W. Murnau’s classic 1922 silent film Nosferatu, as well as Bram Stoker’s iconic novel Dracula, the film stars frequent Herzog collaborator Klaus Kinski as the ghoulish, batlike Count Dracula who, after glimpsing the portrait of his naïve estate agent’s wife, becomes obsessed with her and sets in motion their destruction. Co-starring Bruno Ganz (Wings of Desire) and Isabelle Adjani (The Tenant), and shot by Herzog’s longtime cinematographer Jorg Schmidt (Heart of Glass), Nosferatu: The Vampyre remains one of the maverick moviemaker’s most haunting, atmospheric and darkly poetic films. Don’t miss it.
