Hancock Lands on Top

Will Smith has done it again. His new superhero movie, Hancock, has soared to the number one spot at the box office this holiday weekend. Landing with a total gross of more than $107 million, the movie marks Smith’s fifth number one opening over the July 4th weekend.
Meanwhile, the lovable robot flick WALL-E dropped down to the number two spot, earning $33.4 million. The Angelina Jolie thriller, Wanted, moved to the number three spot, scoring $20.6 million this weekend. Steve Carell’s Get Smart made just over $11.1 million, while Kung Fu Panda earned $7.5 million, bringing the movie’s total gross to almost $200 million since its release one month ago.
Can Will Smith’s power hold strong next weekend against the demon hero’s return in Guillermo del Toro’s Hellboy II: The Golden Army? Find out on next week’s Top of the Box Office report.

Wall-E was really cute, but more of a chick flick/ kiddie film, no wonder Hancock easily pushed it aside.
