A&E to “Spotlight” the Palm Beach International Film Festival

For the first installment of the new “A&E IndieFilms Spotlight” campaign, the cable network has chosen to feature the Palm Beach International Film Festival (PBIFF). During the upcoming festival, which runs from April 10 - 17, A&E will run brief segments highlighting several yet-to-be-determined PBIFF films on both their cable network and Website. Eventually, and more importantly, one film from the festival will be selected and televised nationally on A&E.

A&E IndieFilms is the network’s feature documentary branch. They have helped produce and distribute some of the most warmly received documentaries of recent memory including Murderball, My Kid Could Paint That and Jesus Camp as well as the recent Sundance smash American Teen.

Clearly this partnership will benefit both parties. The PBIFF and some of its films will receive invaluable national exposure, while A&E will gain some indie cred that it can certainly use to temper its questionable reality show-stuffed roster anchored by “Gene Simmons Family Jewels” and “Dog the Bounty Hunter.”
