2008 Spike TV Awards Give Genre Fans Something to “Scream” About

Hungering for an awards show that celebrates genres the Oscars usually steer clear of? The 2008 Spike TV Scream Awards, now in its third year, prides itself on being the first awards show to honor the best in horror, fantasy and sci-fi feature films, television shows and comics. Even better, fans get to choose who the lucky winners will be by voting on the show’s Website.
The 2008 Scream Awards will be broadcast, just in time for Halloween, on October 21st at 9 p.m. on Spike TV. Some of the more unusual categories in this year’s ceremony include Most Memorable Mutilation, Most Shocking Comic Book Plot Twist and the Holy $@#%! Scene of the Year Award (nominees include the Batmobile/Batpod chase in The Dark Knight and the Statue of Liberty attack in Cloverfield). The most coveted trophy is the Ultimate Scream Award, which acknowledges the best in all the genres highlighted by the ceremony. The 2008 nominees include: Cloverfield, The Dark Knight, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, Iron Man, The Mist and “Lost.”
So what are you waiting for? Vote today for the winners at http://www.spike.com/event/scream, and tune in October 21st for the award show. It’ll definitely be a scream.
